In a ground breaking partnership, Zealous Records has teamed up with mega blog Soul-Sides.com to produce the foremost collection of rare soul music ever compiled. Oliver Wang, Soul-Sides.com’s host has scoured his vaults to bring the world the cream of his collection.

Oliver Wang has been writing on music and popular culture since 1994. His commentary regularly appears on/in NPR, Vibe, Wax Poetics, the LA Weekly, Village Voice, and many other publications. He is also editor and co-author of "Classic Material: The Hip-Hop Album Guide." Soul-Sides.com has enjoyed several write-ups and profiles for major media sites including Reuters, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Wired, and the Boston Globe.

MP3 Blogs have become the premier source for audiophiles to discover new music and the tastemakers of modern American culture. Zealous Records chose to approach Oliver Wang and Soul-Sides.com with the intention netof not only releasing a treasure trove of incredible soul music, but also advancing the audioblog medium to new heights.

In the summer of 2005 Zealous owner Kevin Drost and Oliver Wang began a back and forth process of whittling down a list of over 50 tracks into the 14 gems included within the compilation. The harrowing task of tracking down the original owners of each recording, some of which went out of print over 30 years ago, took well over half a year. On March 21^st, 2006 the fruit of their labor was realized with the release of Zealous Records Presents: Soul Sides Volume One.

Volume One received rave critical acclaim and cemented Soul Sides as the premier collection of rare and out of print soul cuts. Shorty after Wang and Drost got together again to work on a follow up. Soul Sides Volume Two builds on Volume One, this time featuring exclusively cover songs. 14 more tracks of sweet soul, raw funk and even venturing into reggae and afro-beat.

Soul Sides, the first ever pairing of a traditional record label with the new phenomenon of MP3 blogs, represents the future, as well as the past, of the record industry.
